Where is God?

Have you ever found yourself in the midst of trying times and wondered, "Where is God?"

You waited until you were in the midst.

You forgot about Him before the stress and in the beginning of the stress when you thought you could handle it yourself.

Do you get it? You're asking the wrong question. The question isn't, "Where is God?" The question is, "Where are you?"

You left Him and then when you felt overwhelmed you wondered where He was. The answer can be found in Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Where is He? Wherever you are. Your job is to "Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always." Psalm 105:4

God never went anywhere. There's no such need - He's everywhere! You walked away from Him - maybe you didn't even notice that you had, but you did.

He makes it so easy though to restore the relationship and be reunited. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 This is pretty awesome. We humans tend not to handle neglect and abandonment, or even just being ignored well. But God loves us so much that His aim is always to have a strong relationship with us.

To that end, He doesn't just tell you what to do, He tells you exactly what His response will be. You are guaranteed forgiveness and restoration - "If  you return to the Almighty, you will be restored." Job 22:23a

What are you waiting for?
